Electric Friday – our apprentices have their say!

|2 min read

In his role as apprenticeship officer, Philipp Kager is responsible for the quality of training and the job satisfaction of his 52 charges. He is convinced: “Giving apprentices space to talk, listening to them and finding out their needs and wishes, so that we can adjust the right things in apprentice training – that is the be-all and end-all of successful training!”

That awareness gave rise to a new element of Gottwald apprentice training: the Electric Friday ⚡

On Friday 2 December 2022 and 31 March 2023, half of our apprentices from Melk and Parndorf came together at the Melk site and worked through three stations on different themes , in a relaxed setting. At the "human resources" station they could share their wishes for future events and benefits, identify possible improvements in their training and communicate their general job satisfaction.

Another station was run by our occupational physician Markus Högl, who addressed possible physical and mental strain and drew attention to preventive measures. The gathering was also used for the annual inspection of tool cases, with worn tools replaced by new ones.

“We received a great deal of valuable feedback that day, which gives us the chance to keep working on improving our apprentice training. Now it is a case of: getting on with putting it into practice! We are very pleased that Electric Friday went down so well with the apprentices,” says Philipp Kager.
