Ground-breaking ceremony at the Melk site

|3 min read

The ground-breaking ceremony on Thursday 20 July 2023 marked the official start of the extension to our Melk site. We were pleased to welcome numerous guests of honour to the Solarstraße, among them the mayor of Melk Patrick Strobl, deputy mayor Wolfgang Kaufmann, Dr Andreas Nunzer representing the Lower Austrian Chamber of Commerce, Peter Reiter representing the Lower Austrian Chamber of Labour, and representatives of the construction firms carrying out the work. The building project is due for completion in autumn 2024.

Well supplied with drinks from our Wein & Wachau wine shop, from the "Braustall" and with delicious catering from Schmankerlfleischerei Sdraule, guests talked about future developments, possible opportunities and challenges. Mayor Patrick Strobl is delighted at this show of confidence in the region and had words of praise for our company.

“Growth needs space!”

The extension covers around 1,000 m² and provides new offices, additional storage space as well as a modern training workshop and workplace childcare.

One of the most important parts of the extension project is undoubtedly the construction of the in-house training workshop. We are always striving to develop our training provision further, and this is another important step towards training skilled workers to the highest standard. On a floor area of some 500 m² a workshop is being built with state-of-the-art equipment and up to eight workstations, designed to deepen practical knowledge. Adjoining it there will be a classroom for teaching the theory. A large common room, where people can relax and chat, completes the plans.

The new offices will offer additional space and comfort. Equipped with the latest technology, attractive interior design and room for both conversation and relaxation, they will give colleagues the best possible conditions for their working day. To keep pace with changing requirements, the storage area is also being extended by 495 m².

The option of workplace childcare rounds off what we offer our Gottwald colleagues. In these rooms up to four children can be looked after at a time by a childminder.

More space means more energy

New parking areas are being roofed with PV panels, increasing our production of renewable energy.

Construction of our new 𝗣𝗩 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 next to the Melk headquarters is nearing completion. Around 2,400 PV panels are currently being installed and the system will ultimately have an output of 940 kWp. In the interests of biodiversity, wild herbs and flowers, vines and potatoes are being planted beneath the panels, so that bees and insects can thrive at Gottwald. Reptile refuges and nesting places complete the offering for our smallest neighbours.

A real gain for our ever-growing electric fleet!
