Summer at Gottwald – holiday placements in high demand

|3 min read

Over the two summer months of July and August, 16 pupils in all completed a holiday placement at our company. Most of them – 11 in fact – worked on our sites at the Melk location and in Parndorf . We also received valuable support in the warehouse and warehouse office , the Teletechnik store and in the marketing and HR department .

We see it as our job to give young people an early insight into working life, and we are glad at the same time to be able to give them a taste for our family business. In the past, holiday placements have already turned into long-term employment once school was finished.

Apart from a summer placement, Gottwald also offers the chance to spend taster days all year round on our sites – an easy way to find out what work in electrical installation and plant engineering involves.

This year too it mattered to us to gather feedback from our placement students. We asked them what they were able to take away from the placement:

Stefan, 17, Stiftsgymnasium Melk:

“I really enjoyed the placement. I was sent to various sites – one day to a detached house, the next to the large FH Campus Wien site. That gave me a brilliant insight into an electrician's working day and I picked up a good deal of technical knowledge.”

Markus, 16, HTL St. Pölten:

“I really enjoyed my holiday placement and working with my team. I was able to work on the Aggsbach flood protection scheme, the sports hall in Waidhofen/Ybbs, the Spar supermarket in Perchtoldsdorf and other sites. Over the four weeks I learned a lot of new things that I will definitely benefit from in future.”

Hannah, 15, BafEP St. Pölten:

“My colleagues in the electrical shop are very helpful, kind and friendly. I was surprised by the large and varied range the electrical store offers. Thanks to my colleagues' thorough training I was able to sell small appliances on my own within a very short time. Advising customers is not always easy, but you learn something every day.”

Magdalena, 17, HAK St. Pölten:

“I would like to say thank you for making this placement possible. I was given very varied tasks in the marketing and HR departments. I particularly enjoyed the preparations for the summer party and apprentice week.”

We look forward to seeing you again and hope we were able to pass on plenty of knowledge and practical experience!

True to the motto “the early bird catches the worm”, our appeal to all motivated young people: we are happy to receive your application for a summer placement in 2023 right now. Don't hesitate!
