Our Gottwald employees celebrated this year's Christmas party on 15 December 2018 in the festively decorated tennis hall in Melk.
Jürgen Gottwald, the eldest son and one of the managing directors, opened proceedings: “What was decisive for me in 2018 was that on 31 January our senior owner decided to retire. Sudden for some and, for those who knew, long planned. Looking back, you realise that Rudolf Gottwald, together with his wife Elfriede, was responsible for the fortunes of the company for almost 40 years. The two of them made the company what it is today. At the start a one-man-and-woman business, today a firm with nearly 250 employees. They have earned the right to step back now and let the new generation get to work. With the support of my two brothers and all the Gottwald people, we go into the future in a strong position!”
There then followed a look back over the past year, revisiting completed projects, shared outings and activities. Bernd Gottwald then warmly welcomed all new employees to the Gottwald team.
As in previous years, our Gottwald apprentices were honoured for their good and excellent results at vocational school and for their final examinations. In total an incredible 15 distinctions and 3 good results were achieved at vocational school.
HONOURING LONG-SERVING EMPLOYEES
Jürgen, Peter and Bernd Gottwald then honoured employees for their years of service. This year there was a very special anniversary. Our long-serving colleague Ursula Hackl celebrated 35 years with the company and is therefore Gottwald's longest-serving woman. For the occasion our senior owners Elfriede and Rudolf Gottwald also came on stage and thanked Mrs Hackl for her many years of loyalty. Guests of honour Peter Reiter, district manager of the Melk Chamber of Labour, and Franz Eckl, district chairman of the Melk Chamber of Commerce, were not to be left out either and presented a gift and a certificate with their congratulations.
The evening came to a close with a delicious festive menu from Pichlers Donauhof, fun at the photo booth, the table football table and the pool table. Our employees enjoyed the company and celebrated the past year.
