The Vienna General Hospital is Austria’s largest hospital and one of the largest in the whole of Europe. Every year more than 90,000 patients are treated in 27 clinics and 62 outpatient departments, and almost 9,000 people work there.
Since the catering has to be taken care of as well, the production kitchen (3,700 m² including ancillary rooms) is an important part of the hospital. As refurbishment was due, a temporary site was built to house the entire production kitchen, so that the whole kitchen area — including its storage space, cold rooms and delivery area — could then be completely refurbished. Gottwald was responsible for the high and low voltage installation in both areas.
