To further expand the range of sport on offer for everyone in Vienna and create additional facilities for both grassroots and elite sport, the SV Arminen sports ground has been extended with a hockey arena that can be used all year round, whatever the weather. The project was partly funded by the City of Vienna and the federal government, which means that facilities are also available for training the Austrian national teams.
The entire steel hall, including the roof, was erected in just four weeks. A special feature is the oversized hot-water system, which is heated via the floor in summer so that the 16 °C required for training can be reached in the hall in winter. This keeps operating costs as low as possible.
It was a great pleasure for us to be involved in this project and so to give the club’s members, children and adults alike, the opportunity to train in any weather. Working with the client also proved very pleasant – the president of SV Arminen was also the architect and designer of the hall.
