Ceremony for apprentices who graduated with distinction

|2 min read

Our apprentice Florian Steffek completed his apprenticeship last year with distinction and was honoured for it in January at the Festspielhaus in St. Pölten.

On Tuesday, 14 January 2019, Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner and Lower Austrian Chamber of Commerce President Sonja Zwazl invited to the Festspielhaus in St. Pölten those 597 apprentices who had passed their training with distinction in the previous year. In total, 5,860 apprentices passed their final apprenticeship examination during this period.

“A clear yes to the apprenticeship from politics, from business, but also from the parents and partners of trainees, is the order of the day”, said Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner on Tuesday during what was already the 17th ceremony for apprentices who graduated with distinction at the Festspielhaus in St. Pölten. Of the 5,860 apprentices who most recently passed their final examination, 597 – more than 10 per cent – did so with distinction.

“In response to the shortage of skilled workers, on 1 January 2019 we launched the biggest apprenticeship initiative there has ever been in Lower Austria. With investments of 46 million euros we showed 6,500 young people the way into a profession last year and brought about the largest drop in youth unemployment of any federal province, at minus 10.5 per cent. At the same time, 4.89 per cent more young people again decided to begin an apprenticeship last year”, the Governor noted.

“School is an important foundation and a key companion in making sure this positive trend continues. That also includes good cooperation with business and industry”, said Mikl-Leitner, pointing in particular to the talent check and the careers fairs that help pupils plan their further education. It is also important, she said, to take account of changing job profiles in teacher training.

“Your distinction shows that effort and hard work pay off. For your future path in life I would like to tell you that positive thinking and the attitude of always taking joy in what you do are already half the success. You are ambassadors worldwide, and Lower Austria is proud of you”, the Governor said in closing to the honoured apprentices.

Our warmest congratulations to Florian on this great achievement!
