We are actively working towards an environmentally sound energy system for the future. Our goal: to save energy, strengthen renewable energy sources and so make a contribution for generations to come – sustainability is therefore at the heart of everything we do.
Sustainability
A core value of our company philosophy
Acting for the future
EMAS registration
At Gottwald, sustainability is not a trend but part of what we do every day. With our EMAS registration (first registered in 2024) we are sending a clear signal for transparent, continuously improving environmental protection: EMAS (“Eco-Management and Audit Scheme”) is a voluntary environmental management system under which an environmental statement is published – making it visible how consistently internal processes are aligned with high environmental standards.
The centrepiece of the EMAS registration is our environmental statement: it describes our environmental policy and the goals of our environmental programme, and assesses the environmental impact of our operations – clearly and openly.
A sustainable company site
We are also taking noticeable measures at our company site: green areas are mown at different times and in different places, and we favour native plant species to strengthen biodiversity further.
Bee meadow
On part of our company grounds we have created a species-rich bee meadow. Wild bees and other pollinators find food and a habitat here – an important contribution to local biodiversity.
Reptile shelter
Our reptile shelter, built from stones and deadwood, gives lizards and other reptiles protected hiding places and spots to bask, right at the company site.
Raised beds
Seasonal vegetables, fresh salad leaves and herbs grow in our raised beds. They are complemented by potatoes we grow ourselves on the company grounds. The produce is prepared in our canteen and so contributes to fresh, regional meals.
Electric mobility
Our vehicle fleet is being converted to electric vehicles step by step. Charging stations at the company site supply both company cars and employees' private electric cars.
Reducing plastic
In our offices and workshops we consistently cut down on plastic – from single-use packaging and office supplies to consumables.
