Melk headquarters extension – building progress

Workplace childcare from 2 September 2024

One of the great highlights of the extension starts at the beginning of September. We want to give our employees the chance to balance work and family better and to let parents return to working life quickly.

Children aged 2 to 10 are looked after from Monday to Friday by qualified childminders at the Gottwald Glühwürmchen (Fireflies) childcare.

This is what awaits the children

  • A reading corner and areas for crafts, learning and drawing
  • Wall bars and a climbing wall with gym mats
  • Quiet places to relax
  • Kitchen, washroom and changing area
  • Outdoor area with playground
  • Children's cloakroom on the ground floor

We are packing our bags

The extension of our Melk headquarters is finally complete. 🎉

Our employees can already move into the rooms. From now on a project team, purchasing and fleet management will be found in the new offices with their state-of-the-art equipment.

We are delighted with this important milestone and with the new possibilities that the extended, fully equipped areas give us.

Down to the details: the fit-out

It is not only from the outside that our extension is finally taking shape. Inside, too, we are moving towards completion in great strides. The floors have been successfully laid, with carpet in the offices and the staff lounge and parquet in the training workshop and the classroom. Then it was the joiner's turn to deliver and assemble the furniture. Step by step the offices, the staff lounge, the classroom, the childcare and the training workshop were furnished and are now fully equipped.

We bring craft and art together

The heart of the extension of our Melk headquarters is undoubtedly the construction of the in-house training workshop. A small highlight of this project is the collaboration with the artist Sarah Kupfner, known as SIUZ. For the artistic design of the new wing, SIUZ worked creatively together with the apprentices and produced three works of art, which can be found in the entrance area, the training workshop and the classroom.

Progress is being made!

The facade is complete and we are absolutely delighted. From the outside the new wing already looks wonderful. Inside, things are moving quickly too: the painters are busy filling and painting. We are approaching the opening in great strides.

A great deal has happened in recent weeks!

All the windows have been fitted, the first internal walls built and the connecting cables laid. The electricians and plumbers are now pulling in cables and hoses and installing pipes. Further firms have already been commissioned for doors and partition walls.

The next steps are to commission joiners for the interior fittings and furniture, and to plan and build the children's playground for the workplace childcare.

So things continue to move forward in great strides!

The topping-out ceremony as the next milestone

The next step towards completing the extension of our Melk headquarters has been reached: the roof is on! If that is not a reason to celebrate.

The topping-out ceremony marks the completion of the shell of the building. We took the opportunity to thank our team for their commitment and our customers and partners for their support.

As at September 2023

Important progress is currently being made: the erection of the precast elements, the electrical work, concreting and the laying of the power cables as well as the construction of the energy centre are all under way. Tenders for the ancillary building trades are in progress.

Ground-breaking

The ground-breaking ceremony on 20 July 2023 marked the official start of the extension to our Melk site. We were pleased to welcome numerous guests of honour, among them the mayor of Melk Patrick Strobl, deputy mayor Wolfgang Kaufmann, Dr Andreas Nunzer of the Lower Austrian Chamber of Commerce, Peter Reiter of the Lower Austrian Chamber of Labour and representatives of the construction firms carrying out the work

to the Solarstraße.

Progress is being made!

We are in the tender phase of our planned extension to the Melk site.

Parts of the old building have been demolished and the foundations and floor ducts prepared. The asphalt surfacing was also removed, with the concrete and asphalt processed for reuse.

A great deal will happen at the Melk site over the hot months ahead – stay informed!
