Happy Firefly Halloween

|2 min read

At our Glühwürmchen (Fireflies), the workplace childcare, there really is always something going on …

On Tuesday 29 October the first of our Firefly children's parties took place, with a Halloween theme. Fifteen children in fancy dress, plus their parents, took over our classroom. Naturally, particular importance was attached to the scare factor in the costumes: a pumpkin, the Joker, a few skeletons, the odd witch and even a princess were all there.

Our childminders Nadine and Kathi put a great deal of effort into the organisation. The party began with a getting-to-know-you game: the result was a spooky spider's web made of wool.

Games, fun and suspense: next came a series of spooky stations, all fitting the Halloween theme of course. Whether making mummy lanterns from old gherkin jars, throwing balls into the witch's cauldron or reaching into the mystery box – there was something for everyone. The more creative children in particular were kept busy making frightening Halloween masks, eerie lollipop ghosts and gloomy mandarin creatures.

Whenever the tasks at a station were completed successfully, the children could collect a sticker. After eight stickers, and therefore all the stations, they were rewarded with a Halloween surprise bag.

There was plenty to eat too, of course. With filled rolls from Schmankerlfleischerei Sdraule as well as cake and muffins from our canteen, children and parents were well fortified for the afternoon of games.

We are delighted with a thoroughly successful – and suitably spooky – Halloween children's party, and we are already curious about what our childminders will come up with next …
