At Gottwald, being family-friendly is not just a phrase but a firm part of our company culture. This is now confirmed by the berufundfamilie certification.
A family business from the very beginning
Our company culture is strongly shaped by family friendliness and by balancing work and family life. Since Rudolf and Elfriede Gottwald founded the family business and later handed it on to their sons Jürgen, Peter and Bernd, family has been at the heart of our company values. We take our cue from the different stages of life of our more than 300 employees and respond specifically to their needs.
The road to berufundfamilie certification
A major step for our family-friendly approach was berufundfamilie certification in 2024. It confirms our commitment as a family-friendly employer and helps us develop our measures further. With the help of berufundfamilie, an outside perspective was brought to bear on the company. On the one hand the certification anchors and confirms what Gottwald already does and lives when it comes to family friendliness. On the other hand new ideas are developed to make balancing work and family even easier, and so to improve employee retention and satisfaction further. The certificates were awarded at a ceremony on 29 January 2025 at the Aula der Wissenschaften in Vienna, where 168 Austrian employers were recognised for their family-friendly company policies. Our certificate was presented to us by Bernadett Humer, head of the family and youth section at the Federal Chancellery.
Our goals for greater family friendliness
Through the certification we have consolidated our family-friendly structures further and developed new measures to support our employees. These include, among others:
- Strengthening internal information flow , so that family-related matters are communicated even better
- Encouraging a family-aware leadership culture within the company
- Training courses on balancing work and family life
- Flexible working models , in particular the option of working from home
- Workplace childcare
A project close to our hearts: our workplace childcare
Setting up and providing workplace childcare in particular is a project close to our hearts. It allows our employees to return to working life sooner while knowing their children are well looked after in a trusted environment. That creates value not only for our employees but for the company too: better planning certainty, lower staff turnover and greater motivation are just some of the positive effects. Workplace childcare therefore becomes a genuine win-win for everyone involved.
With berufundfamilie certification we are sending a clear signal: at Gottwald, family friendliness is not just a promise but everyday reality.
