Gottwald’s training workshop

|2 min read

Apprentice training has been a priority for us at Gottwald from the very beginning. Back in 1981 – two years after the company was founded – we took on our first two apprentices. Ever since, we have kept developing what our training offers.

Now we are taking another important step towards training skilled workers: building and opening a training workshop.

To take apprentice training to a new level, planning for an in-house apprentice workshop began back in autumn 2022. There, theoretical and practical knowledge of electrical engineering is taught, development areas are worked on and team spirit is strengthened. Apprentices therefore learn faster how to work independently on projects and take on responsibility, and they shine at vocational school too.

The Gottwald apprentice workshop is a place for learning and improving, and also a place to meet and exchange ideas. Because: you are only strong as a team! At the Melk training site we are creating the opportunity to get to know colleagues better and to grow together as a team.

On a floor area of some 500 m² a workshop is being built with state-of-the-art equipment and up to eight workstations, designed to deepen practical knowledge. Adjoining it there will be a classroom for teaching the theory. A large common room, where people can relax and chat, completes the plans. It will be shared with colleagues from the office – so that an exchange between generations can take place.

At Gottwald we are currently developing a comprehensive training concept matched to what apprentices need. Through essential input from existing employees and apprentices, and with support from the Chamber of Commerce and the WIFI, a concept is taking shape that will grow over the years as experience increases.

From autumn 2024 it will therefore be possible at Gottwald, alongside vocational school, to deepen knowledge in materials science, safety at work, KNX, the basics of instrumentation and control and more, and to convey important topics such as working economically, communication and company structures more easily. Fully qualified skilled workers can also use the rooms to learn about technical innovations or to exchange ideas with colleagues.

We look forward to putting this important project into practice!
